Cape Heather self catering is less than an hour’s drive from Fish Hoek and Simonstown.
Get an early start, and pop into Olympia Cafe, Fish Hoek for fresh croissants or the delicious seafood pasta. Make sure you bring your flask of tea/coffee, as you cannot always immediately guarantee a spot in the restaurants. It is also fun to dine Al fresco, anything goes here.
If the weather is poor, do some retail therapy at AP Jones in main Road Fishhoek. A family department store providing personalized service (it’s rather a novelty these days, so do go and enjoy the experience). The store stocks quality branded merchandise.
In Simonstown, park your car on the main Road or Jubilee Square, just enjoy the stroll from one little shoppe to the next, eating your ice cream cone at leisure.
Cape Heather recommends Millers Point, only 4 km from Simonstown. It is often the last place included in a tour of the False Bay Coast. Expect sandy coves and a spectacular tidal pool, the beach offers a lush expansive lawn and braai area. Or, stop in at Black Marlin Restaurant, wonderful setting and great food.
Heading back, a stop at Kalk Bay Harbor is compulsory if you love fresh fish. A small Tuna will only set you back R100, but it does feed 4 people. Impossible to find this value anywhere else, and enjoy watching the seals while the fish is filleted.
